CLASSICAL BALLET w/ Jessica Tipler
8 Week Semester - $160
(Price includes 8 Classes)
October 7th-December 2nd
Classical Ballet: The classical ballet course will be held for eight one hour sessions. It will include floor stretches, barre work, center practice, adagio, movements traveling across the floor, allegro, and reverence. Floor stretches will prepare the dancers muscles for barre work by providing a short warm up to lessen the chance of injury. Barre work uses a ballet barre for the dancers to gently hold on to while practicing movements such as plie, tendu, degage, frappe, passe, rond de jambe, develope, and grand battements. Center practice brings the dancers to the center of the room without the use of the barre, practicing their balance before beginning more grand movements. Adagio are slow movements where we will work through ballet position transitions. The dancers will then practice traveling movements where we move from one side of the room to the other. Allegro are faster movements including jumps and leaps, such as: saute, changement, echappe, grand jete, tour jete. We will conclude the classical ballet class with reverence, which is the traditional grand gesture of respect executed at the end of a dance class to acknowledge the teacher and or audience. It is a short dance, concluding with a curtsy. This class will bring poise and grace to the dancer and will give them the knowledge that they need to attend ballet classes in the future.
